Deputies of the National Assembly of Bulgaria abolished property taxes, whose cadastral value does not exceed 1,680 leva (€860). The tax was called "koliba" and was introduced in 2010 by Simeon Dyankov, who held the post of Bulgarian Minister of Finance, informs NewsBG.ru.
The deputy of the National Assembly Christ Panchev said that the changes restore justice and make life easier for the poorest members of the Bulgarian society.
The deputy Georgi Kadiev proposed a more radical reform by abolishing the tax on real estate value of up to 2500 leva (€1,280), but deputies could not reach a consensus and rejected the offer.
