Former Battery prison in Tallinn is on sale

On the open auction was set a large real estate object in the heart of Tallinn - a former fortress (jail). The buildings of prison are located on area of 40 000 sq.m. and sold at starting price of 3 000 000 euros. The object is under state protection as a historic monument.

This prison was built by Russian Tsar Nicholas I and was originally the Marine and Coastal fortress in 1828. In 1920 the first Estonian Republic converted the castle into prison, which functioned until 2007. Today it is a tourist object.
