On 29 April, Montenegro became the 154th country to join the World Trade Organization (WTO) after the protocol signed on 17 December entered into power.
WTO membership will certainly send a positive signal to foreign investors, cementing Montenegro as a place where rules and practices of international trade and commercial law are respected.
Some 97% of global trade in goods and services takes place within the framework of WTO and Montenegro applied for membership in 2004, while it was still a member of the state union of Serbia and Montenegro.
