The Széchenyi Chain Bridge is a masterpiece of architectural thought and the main city sight. The bridge has become the first one over Danube river and has connected cities of Buda and Pest.
It got its name in honor of Count István Széchenyi, prominent politician and reformer of that time, who has invested a lot of resources into bridge construction. The Chain Bridge has played a very important role in Budapest development. As soon as the bridge has been built, provincial town of Budapest started to turn into developed metropolis, which it remains to be nowadays.
