French real estate "attracts all kinds of buyers"

The market for real estate in France is currently attracting a wide range of buyers looking to purchase for different reasons.

This is according to Edward Landau, owner of French estate agency Le Bonheur, who explained that he has seen a diverse set of investors express interest in his firm's properties, which are mainly based in rural areas.

He pointed to a "slow and steady" influx of foreign buyers wanting to start a new life in a new country, as well as locals who simply want to move home for a variety of reasons.

While holiday home purchases are still very much dependent on exchange rates, it is the market for French investment properties that seems to be seeing growth at the moment thanks to the current "insecurity in euro and financial markets", Mr. Landau said.

Pierre Sabatier of PrimeView told the Telegraph earlier this month that the French property market could be set for a significant decline, noting that prices in the country are currently 160 per cent higher than in 1998 and that demographic trends suggest the number of sellers will grow at a faster rate than the number of buyers over the next 25 years.
