Swedish property prices fall

According to STROYVESTI data, for the last six months housing prices in Sweden have declined. The greatest decrease was observed in the segment of houses designed for families residing 1–2 persons. According to statistics from the Swedish Association of Realtors, during the period at the end of December, apartments in Malmo and Stockholm fell by 3% and 7%. Cottages and private homes have decreased in price by 4%, condominium apartments in the past year fell by 1%.

"Similar prognosis expected in 2012 and the trend of falling prices will continue. Mortgage lending will retain the current level of interest rates, and possibly followed by a slight decrease, which beneficially affect the stabilization of prices. It has been suggested a slight increase in buyer activity in the Swedish real estate market, but it is in the case of a favorable scenario associated with the economic situation in the country and the world", – said the director of the Academy of Sciences Svensk Fastighetsförmedling Peter Putsepp.
