Since the beginning of the summer for each night spent in a hotel or private apartment of the Lithuanian resort - Palanga, vacationers will pay 1 lit – tourist tax. From this tax exempt children younger than 10 years, and patients of rehabilitation centers and hospitals.
It is expected that in 2012, new tourist tax will bring 400 000-500 000 litas to the city budget. The funds will be spent on improvement and development of the city's infrastructure, as well as the promotion of event tourism in Palanga.
