Luxury chalets on Swiss ski resorts are falling in price, while prices in neighboring France are growing steadily.
The largest drop is felt on the traditionally most popular ski resorts - Gstaad, Davos and St. Moritz. In the latter, for example, prices fell compared to the previous year by 7.2%. In Gstaad, fall is not so noticeable - 2%.
Market experts believe that one of the reasons for the fall was the strong position of the Swiss franc against euro, and as a result - higher interest of foreign investors in the French market.
In addition, a legislative initiative to reduce the number of seasonal housing to 20% in each municipality was supported by the majority of Swiss voters, which caused uncertainty among investors.
In this situation, the interest in the French resorts real estate has increased and as a consequence - the French chalet prices rose. For example, prices in Val d'Isere increased by 6%, in Meribel - by 4.5%.
