Ski lift to link Zermatt in Switzerland with Italian resort

In a move bound to thrill ski enthusiasts, a new ski lift may soon be built linking Zermatt-Cervinia with the northern Italian Monterosa resort.

The planned lift will provide a cross-border link between the already popular resorts of Zermatt and Cervinia, which sit either side of the iconic Matterhorn mountain, and the three Italian valleys of Gressonay, Ays and Sesia.

A feasibility study costing 409 550 dollars to prepare has estimated that the construction of a cable car or chairlift would cost between 30 700 000 and 35 900 000 dollars, which in ski-area investment terms is relatively moderate.
