The most attractive Swiss communes are located in the German-speaking canton of Zug, says the ranking compiled by Die Weltwoche. The publication evaluated the settlements on the state of labor market, the cost of real estate, social infrastructure and tax relief, reports ee24.com.
Zug - the capital of the canton of the same name - is the leader of the list, followed by Hünenberg and Risch-Rotkreuz communes.
The leading places in the ranking of communities were provided by the tax policy of the canton: large holdings are exempt from cantonal income tax, and the federal tax can also be reduced. Today Zug is one of the leading regions in the world's trade of raw materials. As for the French-speaking part of Switzerland, the top ten most desirable places to live don't include even one french- or italian-speaking commune.
Interestingly, Switzerland impose certain restrictions on the purchase of real estate by foreigners. In the German part the visitors are allowed to buy houses in the cities of Bern, Lucerne, Graubünden, St. Gallen, Schaffhausen, Appenzell, Schwyz, Uri, Nidwalden and Obwalden. If you want to buy a house in the Italian part of the country, it can be done only in Tesin. In the cantons of Zurich and Geneva the non-residents of Switzerland can't buy residential real estate.
