Prices for apartments in central Stockholm and Gothenburg, where housing is already the most expensive in Sweden, are hitting new records. According to the latest statistical data of the real estate agency (Svensk Mäklarstatistik), the cost of apartments in central Stockholm’ areas has reached 62,365 SEK (€7,452) per square meter, according to the portal The Local.se. In March 2013, the cost per square meter of housing in the center of Gothenburg increased by 2% and was 40,465 SEK (€4,835).
In the first quarter of 2013, apartment prices increased by 7% in the whole of Sweden, and home prices - by 1%. Analysts of the company Svensk Fastighetsförmedling predict a rise in prices of real estate in Sweden in 2013.
"А lack of housing caused increasing in real estate prices in many parts of the country. This emphasizes the need to build more housing units in Sweden, especially in regions with a large influx of immigrants", said Peeter Pütsep, head of real estate agency Svensk Fastighetsförmedling.
