Housing shortage. Only 1,000 apartments are vacant in Barcelona

Volume of housing stock in the north-east of Spain is gradually decreasing. Evaluators of property from Sociedad de Tasación say that there are 2727 new apartments for sale in the Catalan province of Barcelona, and there are only 917 of them in the city itself, reports ee24.com citing noticia.ru.

Juan Fernández Aceytuno, director at Sociedad de Tasación, said that the data on the reduction of apartments for sale could not yet indicate a new trend. According to the expert, the supply volumes won't decrease in the future.

In recent years, the number of transactions for the purchase and sale of real estate in Barcelona was approximately at the same level. Average price of new apartment available today is €407,000 or €4,376 per sq.m. Evaluators believe the cost is too high, but it is quite understandable, given the lack of land for construction in Barcelona.
