British consulate on the Balearic Islands warns compatriots that walking in Ibiza alone may cost them their lives. Within the campaign "Enjoy and Respect" the British diplomats advise how not to die from poison, balkoning or other dangers on the Spanish island, writes ee24.com citing kyero.com.
British Consulate advises to "stay with their groups and not walk in the street on their own or with someone they don’t know, as it could cost them their life." Tourists are advised to watch their drinks because someone can spike them. There were no such cases on the island, but prudent Britons apparently work proactively.
Another trouble is "balkoning", when drunk tourists try to jump into the hotel pool from their balconies, but miss and die. Unlike poisoning, such incidents had occured.
The campaign consists of 6 illuminated signs, 300 posters and 15,000 leaflets. Despite the fact that the British initiative was supported the local administration, the owners of bars, souvenir shops and hotels are in no hurry to distribute leaflets, believing that it would lead to unnecessary concerns among tourists.
