Real estate in the Azores (€944 per sq.m) and in Lisbon (€1,214 per sq.m) has become a little more affordable. Properties in Algarve, where foreigners are willing to buy villas on the coast, have fallen in price in January from €1,293 to € 1,226 per sq.m.
Property in subregions of North, Centre and Alentejo is still available for €800-900 per sq.m. But housing prices on Madeira have slightly increased, to €1,222 per sq.m.
At the same time, Portugal continues to benefit from the program of granting a residence permit. Last year 330 "golden visas" were issued. During the first three weeks of this January 49 foreigners have received their "golden visas".
