Nearly a quarter of a million passengers have used the new Lisbon airport subway connection since it opened a month ago, according to information from Metro de Lisboa.
In total, since launching on 17 July and until 14 August, 244 500 passengers passed through the new Airport subway station, an average of 8 400 passengers per day.
The airport subway route links Gare do Oriente to Portela Airport via the red line, passing through Encarnação and Moscavide.
Airport taxi drivers are divided over the new subway line; some believe it has taken away potential clients, others are sure it hasn’t. On the other hand, passengers are unanimous in agreeing that it is a bonus to the city and that it improves mobility.
