Citizens of Ukraine and Germany are the most active buyers of real estate in Poland

In 2015 the number of homes sold in Poland increased by 17%. Most of the buyers were citizens of two countries – Germany and Ukraine.

Last year the Germans bought in total 36 000 Polish square meters. They are followed by citizens of Ukraine with 35 400 m2. For comparison, in 2004 (the year of Poland's accession to the EU) Ukrainians bought in Poland only 3 400m2 of housing. So the amount increased more than 10 times.

Most often Ukrainians buy real estate in Poland with an area of up to 60 m2. Thus, the majority of Ukrainian buyers are not professional investors and businessmen, whose aim is to preserve and multiply their money. We are talking about ordinary people.

Newspaper Wyborcza noted that most transactions were registered in Krakow, Wroclaw and Warsaw. Those are the largest the settlements where newcomers can get a job without much difficulty.

Other Polish media reported that citizens of Ukraine are now more likely to search for the job in Poland, and also began to attempt to move here for permanent residence.
