Riga residents lined up to purchase the Soviet-era apartments

Life not within four walls, but within four panels with window and door is becoming more expensive in Riga. Apartments in Soviet blocks of flats gained in price by 5% from the beginning of the year. Now they go for €625-630 per sq.m, according to ee24.com citing varianti.lv.

Back in December 2013, such an apartment in Riga could be bought for a price of €600 per sq.m. One-room apartments were worth just €23-30 thousand.

Now the serial housing is gaining in price. Buyers want to pay, make a deal and immediately live in their new property. As a result, the square meter of renovated apartments in Riga is already hard to find for less than €700.

To buy a decent one-room apartment in Riga, one should have at least €25 thousand. Popular two-room apartments are offered for sale for about €35 thousand.
