Latvians blame the euro for the growth of real estate prices

Housing in Latvia goes up in value for few percent per year, and 49% of people blame the euro, writes ee24.com citing delfi.lv. 

Half of the economically active Latvian citizens believe that the introduction of the euro was the reason of growth of property prices, while 19% believe that prices have not changed. Respondents with lower incomes claim on influence of euro to the property market more often.

48% of respondents believe that buying real estate in Latvia is more profitable than rent. 33% are undecided, and 19% believe that the rent is cheaper than a purchase. 

According to Knight Frank, from Q1 2013 to Q1 2014 housing prices in Latvia increased by 5.5%.
