In Latvia are not going to quickly resolve construction issues

Latvian Saeima rejected amendments to the Construction Law, which provided for reducing the time challenge of building permits. Economy Minister Daniels Pavluts told Nozare.lv it can’t only lead to a deterioration of international assessments, such as the World Bank's Doing Business and the Global Competitiveness Index, which are accounted by investors, but also the loss of investment and jobs.

The minister said that problems in the process of construction became one of the main obstacles to further improve the business environment in Latvia and investment. Construction issues are very long. At the moment, project approval may take longer than its implementation, said Pavluts.

Under the current procedure, if a building permit is contested, then the project is suspended, except for construction projects of national significance.
