Gusakov's company didn't pay €3 million for "Ķemeri", auction was declared invalid

Badly known "Ķemeri" sanatorium in Jurmala, Latvia didn't found its buyer. The only bidder failed to pay €3 million in the stipulated period (within a month) and eventually lost the deposit (€503,000), said Ainars Kreics, administrator of an insolvent LLC Ominasis Latvia. He declared invalid auction for the sale of "Ķemeri" on October 3, 2014 and said that situation should become clear in 2 weeks, ee24.com informs citing baltic-course.com and the press service of the Latvian Association of Certified Administrators of Insolvency.

According to the LETA information agency, the purchaser of the abandoned sanatorium in Jurmala was the Park Hotel Kemeri, registered on September 16, 2014 and owned by Alexander Gusakov, citizen of Russia and proprietor of the Heliopark Group. On October 20, 2014, the second board member of the Park Hotel Kemeri became the largest Latvian tax debtor Andrejs Danengirss, who debts approx. €3.47 million.

Earlier the Baltic media reported that Alexander Gusakov’s Park Hotel Kemeri Company bought "Ķemeri" sanatorium on October 3, 2014 for €3 million on the fifth auction. Previously, there were not any applicants for the abandoned building. "Ķemeri" was popular in the times of the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union and a decade ago, the company was purchased by the Ominasis Latvia, which did not do anything with the object and went bankrupt. In the 2010s the Government of Jurmala failed to find a new investor. Historic building is now in a very poor condition.

According to Gatis Truksnis, Mayor of Jurmala, the Latvian authorities will invest €10 million on the development area of Ķemeri until 2020 and the building will be transformed in five years by investor. Gatis Truksnis also said that he had met Gusakov twice and spoke "actually with a group of investors, as they came to the City Government to talk about future plans together with the French company Vichy, which is not only cosmetics producer but is also engaged in spa facilities development".
