The Italian government has announced that from 1 January 2014 the registration tax on the purchase of a resale property will be reduced. The decrease will be of €900 for every €100,000 of the object's price, according to ee24.com citing aplaceinthesun.com.
Thus, if you purchase a property worth €400,000 as your summer residence or a second home, after 1 January 2014 you will be required to pay for the registration of the object €3,600 less.
It is possible to save even more significant amount if you announce the intention to become an Italian resident and purchase primary residence (prima casa). In this case, the discount will be €1,236 for each €100,000 of the object's price. So for the facility cost €400,000 you will pay €4,945 less.
