The real estate market in Italy increased Internet fraud

The actual number of acts of online fraud in the property market in Italy remains unknown, known only the frequency of complaints in “Sportello dei Diritti”, a non-profit site dedicated to consumer protection. All of this suggests a sharp increase in online fraud associated with false offers rental and sale of real estate inItaly.

In recent fraud objects are not only the room, yielding to rent for a long time or are away on holiday, but also a property for sale, offer for specialized websites.

Scammers are usually asked to pay deposit or amount of the monthly rent on the pretext of booking transactions and request scanned copies of buyer documents to sign a contract that gives the appearance of the seriousness of the transaction. The result is a loss of input amount and the inability to use the property, as it does not exist, or live in it unsuspecting legitimate owners.

John D'Agata, founder of “Sportello dei Diritti”, calls all be extremely cautious when buying or renting a property through the Internet, and do not send your personal information to strangers or documents without first checking the accuracy of the ad.

The simplest advice is checking it in advance either in person or through a friend accuracy of information in the ad for the property that the object is actually being sold or rented.
