Venice was the most expensive place in Europe for tourists in May 2013. You needed to pay about €281 to spend the night in the most romantic city on the water. In May 2013 the average cost of accommodation in Venice grew by 38% compared to April, according to the portal Italia-ru referring to Trivago Hotel Price Index. For comparison, rental housing in Florence cost €165 (+20%), in Siena - €129 (+17%), in Milan - €136 (-14%).

In May 2013 the cost of daily living in Venice was higher than in the traditionally expensive cities such as Geneva, London, Stockholm and Paris, where the average hotel prices were €278, €204, €200 and €193 per night respectively.

The increase in hotel prices was observed in other cities of Europe: in Riga - by 43% (€100 per night) and in Prague - by 35% (€148).

The most inexpensive vacation can be found in Spain, where the daily cost of accommodations ranges from €63 to €84 (Zaragoza, Malaga, Valencia, Bilbao, Granada).
