Italy has frozen the assets of Putin’s friend Rothenberg

In accordance with existing sanctions against Russia accepted by the EU and the United States, the Italians froze €30 million assets, belonging to a friend of Vladimir Putin – Russian businessman Arkady Rotenberg. In particular, financial guard of Italy has already sealed his apartment in Cagliari and three villas on the island of Sardinia (one in Cagliari and two in Arzachena), as well as his villa in Tarquinia, informs ee24.com with reference to Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera.

Also are frozen the assets of several companies owned by Arkady Rotenberg, who was included in the sanctions list of the EU and the United States in the summer of 2014. In Italy was harmed Aurora 31 company which is controlled by the Cypriot company Olpon Investment Limited and that is, according to the Italians, connected with the Russian businessman. Rothenberg structures own, in particular, the four-star Luxury Hotel in the center of Rome near the Vittorio Veneto street and the Spanish Steps. The Financial guard explained that the hotel will continue its work, but its subsequent gains will be frozen.

The EU accepted another exclusion list on September 6, 2014, which includes Arkady Rotenberg. Against some wealthy and influential Russians were imposed sanctions such as the freezing of assets in Europe and travelling ban.
