Cerveteri is a town of northern Lazio in the region of the Metropolitan City of Rome. Located 40 km from the center of Rome (20 km from Rome's ring road), 10 min. from the sea, 30 km from the airport Fiumicino, 5 min from the wine cellar Casale Cento Corvi . Around the city of Cerveteri is an Italian DOC wine region that produces red and white blended wines. There is a train station in Cerveteri. Trains are directed to the central train station Termini in Rome (30 minutes) and to the Port of Civitavecchia (30 minutes).
It is famous for the site of the ancient Etruscan city which was one of the most important Etruscan cities with an area more than 15 times larger than today's town.
The ancient city was situated about 7 km from the sea, a location which made it a wealthy trading town derived originally from the iron ore mines in the Tolfa hills.
Its sea port and monumental sanctuary at Pyrgi was important for overseas trade.
From about 300 BC Caere came under Roman rule. Although the exact sequence of their submission can no longer be reconstructed today, there had been numerous feuds. Rome is said to have had a 100-year truce with Caere as a result, and virtually all Etruria was in Roman hands from about 295 BC.
The city lost its wealth and power completely by the first century AD.
Today, the area of Cerveteri is best known for its Etruscan necropolis and archaeological treasures.

AROUND THE CITY OF CERVETERI IS AN ITALIAN DOC WINE REGION THAT PRODUCES RED AND WHITE BLENDED WINES.


Cerveteri's wineries cultivate its vineyards on the slopes of the Ceriti mountains, located between the necropolis of Cerveteri and the ancient port of Pyrgi: where the Etruscans developed their own civilization and culture. The volcanic soils give quality and originality to their wines and year after year, with the passion for the production of wine, masters retrace the path of the tradition marked by the great Etruscan people.

The cultivation of the vine in ancient Etruria dates back to the dawn of history with the earliest traces dating back to 1,000 BC. The rich archaeological and artistic documentation is evidence of the importance given to the vine and wine by the Etruscans, who adopted a vine training technique called "maritata", that is cultivated close to live supports.

The wine produced at the time of the Etruscans was "bottled" in amphorae bearing the name of the producer and the type of wine, and sealed with cork and pitch. The vine varieties used were all belonging to the "vitis vinifera", considered ancestors of Trebbiano and Malvasia. The wine produced in this way was proposed in the markets in the entire area of the Mediterranean.
All these wineries are located near the Tyrrhenian coast at the foot of the Ceriti mountains on a spur of volcanic tufa. The mild climate is ideal for vine cultivation, the land, rich in potassium and phosphorus, and poor in organic matters, favors a quantitatively limited but high quality production.

The vineyards of the winery, that produce 100% of the vinified grapes and of the bottled wine, are planted to Trebbiano, Malvasia, Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Vermentino, Sangiovese, Montepulciano, Merlot and Cabernet
