The Emir of Qatar will turn the Greek island in the "oasis of arts"

Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani is going to organize arts center on the newly acquired Oksia island in the Ionian Sea, says ee24.com with reference to the Greek media. The powerful sheikh will invest €300 million in the island and create more than 200 jobs. The development project involved architectural firm of famous Greek architect Stelios Agiostratitis.

The project will not only transform the island into an international art and cultural center, designed to receive expositions of international importance, but also to create a museum an an exhibition,  build an assembly hall, an amphitheater, and the living space for artists.

All buildings will be constructed in accordance with the latest requirements of bioclimatic architecture, which ensures complete harmony with the environment, as well as the exceptional care about the ecosystem of the island, which is part of the European ecological network Natura 200 .

The appearance of the new arts center on the Ionian Sea island will certainly have a positive impact on the development of tourism in Greece. In addition, the country will be able to attract well-known figures of art and culture.

Recall that the Russian oligarch Dmitry Rybolovlev bought the island of famous Greek billionaire Aristotle Onassis in the Ionian sea and commanded to decorate it in the ancient Greek style. Now the villa on the island of Skorpios is famous for the six caryatids made ​​of gypsum.
