The University was blown up in Frankfurt

In the first weekend of February, 116- meter tall AfE Tower in Frankfurt, which was a home to the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Goethe University, was detonated, according to ee24.com citing the German media .

32-story skyscraper was built over 40 years ago and became the tallest building in Frankfurt (in the centre of the photo). Over time, it became evident that the aesthetic value of its design can be questioned, and the building doesn't meet the needs of the developing metropolis.

The tacky tower became the tallest building in Europe that has been demolished by the explosion. 950 kg of explosive materials were used; 250-meter area around the building was fenced. According to various estimates, from 10 to 30 thousand people were watching the process of detonation. It's reported that two high-rise office buildings will be built on the site of the exploded tower.
