Germany sets record in home sales

In the first quarter of 2014 more than 100 thousand homes and apartments for a total amount of €5.6 billion (an average of €56 thousand for each property) were sold in Germany. This is a record high figure since the crisis, writes ee24.com citing immobilien-zeitung.de.

According to CBRE, approximately €3.4 bn out of € 5.6 bn accrued to two large sales. Demand for real estate in Germany remains stable among both local and foreign investors. Berlin prevails, although regional centers, including mid-sized, are becoming more and more popular. These include the capital of Hesse, Wiesbaden, the capital of Thuringia, Erfurt, the second largest city in Baden-Württemberg, Mannheim.

Despite the positive progress in this quarter, CBRE experts believe that the main sales have already been made this year. It's expected that the volume of home sales in Germany in 2014 will be over €10 billion. There is a chance that last year's figure of €13.8 billion will be exceeded.
