In the end of June Moscow hosted the signing of the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the French Republic on mutual recognition of educational qualifications and degrees.
Speaking non-official language, finally happened what was expected by many representatives of the academic community: agreement equalizes the documents on education in both countries in a bilateral way, which gives applicants the opportunity of Russia and France to apply to Universities obeys countries, and starting education in one country, to continue it in another. The agreement comes into effect from this academic year.

According to the newspaper "Kommersant", the agreement leads to a common denominator of different levels of education, including school certificates, diplomas. For example, vocational and offer vocational education in Russian schools is equivalent to the French diplomas BTS and DUT is a technical University degree. Russian bachelor's degree equivalent to a professional license in France, and a diploma of specialist or master in Russia are equal to a master's degree in French universities. Likewise, the Russian PhD doctoral degree will be equal to a doctoral degree in France.
Similar agreements have already been signed with many European countries, at the moment there are negotiations on mutual recognition of education with the UK and finalized the draft agreement with Italy.
