A French court seized property belonging to former President of Gabon Omar Bongo

French judges, after examining the sources of income of the former President of Gabon Omar Bongo, made a decision about withdrawal of objects of real estate, belonging to his family. Villa in Nice on French Riviera and Parisian mansion, located in the chic 16th district of the city were formally the property of the company SCI Emeraude.

The audit also considered the case of the President of Equatorial Guinea Teodoro Obiang Nguema and the President of the Republic of Congo Denis Sassou. The investigation was launched in December 2010 with the aim to determine whether the three leaders of African countries, sat up for too long on their posts, used the corrupted money to acquire expensive properties in France.

Omar Bongo has been President of Gabon (country, which is currently the fourth largest oil producer on the African continent) for 41 years, until his death in 2009. Although Bongo had dozens of children, he appointed the two main heirs, his beloved daughter Pascaline Bongo, and son Ali Bongo, the current President, known for his love to luxury cars.

Huge capital of Omar Bongo is estimated at hundreds millions euro. It has caused battles between his family members, who were split into competing factions. Presumably, the Bongo property includes many luxurious villas and mansions around the world, as well as aircraft, boats, works of art and a huge share in key industries of Gabon.
