Chinese billionaire became the owner of Bordeaux vineyards

Jack Ma (№33 in the global ranking of billionaires by Forbes), the founder of Alibaba Group, acquired the Château de Sours in Bordeaux. Thus he joined the growing company of Chinese investors who have already purchased many châteaux and vineyards in France. The transaction amount was not disclosed.

Chinese billionaire plans to set up in his new estate a "mini Versailles" – the large-scale restoration work has already begun - façade, gardens and adjacent buildings, cellars, which have not been used for many years, will be renovated.

Also, together with other Chinese investors, Ma plans to acquire vineyards in California, Italy, New Zealand and Australia.

The former owner of Château de Sours, Martin Krajewski, will remain  the consultant of the new owner in production and marketing.
