In Helsinki, 8,000 new residents settled in 2012. The increased demand for real estate in Finland leads to higher prices. Thus, the highest price per square meter (10,054 euros) recorded the purchase of one-room apartment (28 m2) in Punavuori (the center of Helsinki). According to the Statistical Center, the average price per square meter was 6,424 euros (apartment in Katajanokka near Uspensky Cathedral).
Another reason of increase in housing prices in Helsinki is the cost of land, which inhibits the activity of the construction of new apartments in the capital of Finland. Despite the price increase, consumers continue to attract an apartment in the center of Helsinki and with Baltic Sea views.
One of the most expensive items on the real estate market in Finland is an apartment in Ullanlinna in Helsinki (370 m2, the cost of 5,9 million euros), where a square meter costs 15,950 euros. There once lived in the Governor-General Nikolai Bobrikov and Finnish President Kyösti Kallio.
