In February 2013, the real estate market in Finland was fixed at 20% more transactions than in February 2012, reported the company Asuntoverkko. In Lapland, growth in the number of purchase and sale transactions was 71%, in South Ostrobothnia - 68%, in the regions of Uusimaa and Eastern Satakunta - 37-38%, South Savoand Kainuu - 30%.
The greatest demand in February 2013 was for apartments in multi-storey buildings (1,154 transactions against 452 in February 2012), and sales of cottages decreased by 13%. The prices for used apartments in Helsinki grew by almost 10% and stood at €4,475 per square meter (€4,088 in February 2012).
According to experts, increase in the number of transactions is related to the change of the tax on real estate purchase in March.
