Today the first cars drove through new modern terminal. During the works the old terminal of 500 square meters was demolished and in its place a new modern terminal with an area of 1468 square meters was built.
According to the Police and Border Guard Board of Estonia, in 2013 the Narva border station border was crossed by 3 588 883 people, that counts 44% of all border crossings of Estonia and 61.6% of crossings of the Eastern border. Over the past 10 years, the number of cars crossing Narva border increased by 43%б buses by 100%, trucks — by 16.5%. The new terminal will increase the capacity of the border by at least 50% and will make crossing the border much easier. The new border crossing point for four traffic lanes, not two as before.
The work was financed by the cross border cooperation program "Estonia – Latvia – Russia" project of the European instrument of neighborhood and partnership. The cost of the work amounted to more than €6 mln.
