The former municipal building on the outskirts of Liverpool, where George Harrison "The Beatles" guitarist lived as a child, was sold for £156,000 (€197,000), with a starting auction price of £100,000. Townhouse, purchased by an unnamed London fan of British “The Beatles” band, is located in Speke district at 25 Upton Green, near the city's airport, informs the ee24.com citing the British media.

In 1950’s this townhouse located at that time in new district of Liverpool was a building with "improved" layout and was populated by those, who stood in line to improve housing conditions, among them were George Harrison’s parents, Harold and Louise. Originally these municipal buildings had two living rooms, bathroom and three bedrooms.
George Harrison recalled: "Now I lived on the Upton Green Street, 25. There were municipal houses with bathrooms and kitchens ... The house was very nice and modern. After a typical little house, looking two peas in a pod-like the neighboring one, it seemed as a dream of all my life. The corridor of my new home led into the living room, then to the kitchen, back into the hall and again into the living room. The only thing I did on the first day, I ran circles following this route."

George Harrison lived in this 3-roomed municipal house from the age of 6 to 18 years with his parents. Later in 1965, becoming the star of "The Beatles", he bought to his parents a private house in Appleton district in the city of Warrington, located on the north of the Cheshire county.
It was in this house on the outskirts of Liverpool, where George Harrison met Paul McCartney and John Lennon, with whom he founded “The Quarrymen” group, which later transformed into The Beatles. Harrison was not only "The Beatles" guitarist but also songs composer (Here Comes the Sun, While My Guitar Gently Weeps).
Let’s recall that "The Beatles" fans also have a chance to purchase another house, previously owned by John Lennon – his country Kenwood residence, located in Surrey, in an hour's drive from London. The estate is offered for £13.75 million. Also for £2.5 million is proposed luxury apartment in the UK capital, where George Harrison and Ringo Starr lived in the 1960s.
Previously, the Countrywide Property Auctions Company, which was engaged in the auction with Harrison’s house, had sold John Lennon’s house in Liverpool in 2013 at a price threefold higher than estimated.
Note that the childhood homes of John Lennon ("Mendips", Menlove Avenue, 251) and Sir Paul McCartney (Forthlin Road, 20) in Liverpool had once passed into the ownership of the British National Fund of historical sites and are today protected monuments and tourist points of interest.
