According to research by the National Housing Federation, the tenants in the UK pay almost twice more than their European neighbors.
The average rent in the UK is € 902 per month, while the average European rate of € 481. Even in countries with proportional per capita income, such as Germany and Netherlands, rental rates are 50% lower, € 600 and € 625 respectively.
According to the research, British renters spend almost 40% of their income on rent, compared with a European average of 28%.
The lack of affordable housing, particularly in London, is a significant problem for the residents of the city, especially for young families, the high rents are just one of the signs of the housing bubble.
