Rudyard Kipling's house in England, where he wrote the novel "Kim", is for sale for the first time in 40 years. The new owner will get not only the property, but also its own tennis court and cricket pitch, where a world-famous writer once played. The Gables House in Tisbury, Wiltshire, United Kingdom, together with the rest of the property is selling for £950,000 (€1.11 million), reported the British media.
Writer’s parents, John and Alice Kipling, purchased a mansion in Wiltshire in the second half of the 19th century, after the return to England after a long stay in India. Here they resided for about 20 years.
English author and poet Rudyard Kipling, who wrote the well-known "The Jungle Book", lived in East Sussex, but often visited his parents in Wiltshire, where he worked on the novel "Kim", one of his masterpieces. Kipling was the first English language writer to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature. In his 42 he became the youngest recipient of the award.
The house is now owned by John and Louise Young, who lived there since the early 1970s. The mansion has a modern kitchen, five bedrooms and two bathrooms. In the living room, located on the ground floor, fireplace is preserved and the ceiling is decorated with wood paneling.
