In summer 2015, the private banking departments of VTB Bank (Austria) and VTB Bank (France) began to issue mortgage loans to local residents and VIP-clients of the VTB Group (Russian Federation), as said a senior vice president of VTB Bank Mikhail Yakunin, quoted by "Interfax".
Financial VTB "daughters" in France and Austria offer their wealthy clients (about 4,000 people) to open accounts and deposits, to use European bank cards and to take out loans for the property purchase. Mortgage rates are similar European – approximately 4-4.5% per annum.
"The first several transactions have already concluded", Yakunin said.
In 2014, it was reported that the Sberbank and VTB plans to issue mortgages to Russian citizens abroad. Sberbank was going to lend in Turkey, Czech Republic and Croatia, and VTB – in Austria and France.
