This weekend, the best ski resorts of the world were awarded in Kitzbühel, Austria. World Ski Awards is a new annual prize for leading resorts, according to ee24.com citing worldskiawards.com.

Contest organizers say that in 2013 there will be 400 mln of people visiting 2 thousand ski resorts, and therefore this industry is a very important part of tourism. Top 20 countries were chosen out of 80 states having ski resorts. After that experts (tour operators, agents, media) have chosen the best ski resorts in these 20 countries.

Each country was represented in four categories: best ski resort, best ski hotel, best boutique hotel and best chalet .

Kitzbühel, where the ceremony took place, was named the best resort in Austria. In Finland, skiers should pay attention to Ruka. The best ski resort in Germany is Garmisch-Partenkirchen. In Italy, it is best to ski in Cortina d'Ampezzo, in Dolomites.

Norwegian Trysil, Russian Krasnaya Polyana, Swiss Laax are also among the winners. But title of the best ski resort of the world 2013 came to French Val Thorens, the highest ski zone in Europe.
