Under the new law on citizenship of the Czech Republic, which will come into effect from 1 January 2014, applicants for citizenship will have to demonstrate a good knowledge of the Czech language and features of life in the country, according to ee24.com citing prague-express.cz.
Those who consider themselves experts on the Czech Republic can verify their knowledge in test mode on a dedicated website. Tasks are similar to those that are widely used in examinations on citizenship of other countries.
Applicant for a Czech passport has to answer questions on history, culture, geography and legislation. Among the main themes are the following: customs and traditions, education, political system, social security, elections, natural conditions, environmental protection, famous people of Czech origin.
What is not a type of public transportation: taxi , metro, bus or tram? What colour is the EU flag: white, blue, green or red? When does winter begin in the Czech Republic - in February, April, October or December? What should a person sign to leave his property in Czech Republic to a friend: the swap agreement, contract of sale, power of attorney or a will? Applicants for citizenship of the Czech Republic are invited to answer these and other questions.
But there are also more difficult questions: name of central character of the famous novel by Jaroslav Hasek or name of a national park in Moravia. The good news is that the rules are not very strict: you must give correct answers to at least 18 of the 30 questions in 45 minutes to pass the test.
