Bansko has built an international airport

At 50 kilometers from the Bulgarian ski resort of Bansko, in the town of Gotse Delchev, the construction of an international airport has begun, reports ee24.com citing newsbg.ru.

The new airport will be built on the site of a former military air base near the village Musomishta. The terminal with the working title "Pirin" will begin its work in 2015 and will contribute to the development of winter tourism in Bulgaria.

Company "Health and Wellness", that is engaged in the construction, bought a military base in 2011 for €7.6 million. At this point €869,000 was invested in the reconstruction of the airfield.

The new airport will be bought by company "Bromak invest" has already signed a preliminary contract for the amount of €8.6 million. The company is affiliated with the Bulgarian banker Tsvetan Vasilev, owner of the bank KTB, which is in turn owned shares "Health and Wellness".

The new airport is being built on a plot of 874,680 square meters, it will have a runway length of 2,100 meters and a width of 25 meters and the passenger terminal will also be constructed. Its capacity will reach 100,000 passengers a year.

It is believed that the most active airport will work in the winter, when thousands of tourists will fly to the ski resort of Bansko. However, during the year the airport will continue its work, taking tourists and travelers.
