Switzerland has decided to increase the quota for residence permit for non-European employees

Migration service of Switzerland in 2017 will be able to give 1,000 working permits more than this year – 7 500 in total. The quota increase will be a real relief for cantons that lack of foreign experts. A typical example is Geneva - this year it spent the limit for issuing a residence permit in March. The Minister of justice Sommaruga has expressed his concern that Geneva could not offer residence permits for highly qualified specialists.

The most popular are the specialists in the field of IT and pharmaceutical research.

2 years ago, in 2014, the government decided to issue a residence permit for 8500 workers of category B and L, but in February the size of the quota for 2015 has dropped to 6 500.
