Cost of living in Switzerland is the highest in Europe

Zurich, Geneva and Bern are the most expensive cities for foreign workers to live in Europe, reports ee24.com citing mercer.com.

To compose the rating in 2014 a study of prices was conducted in 211 cities in the world. Luanda, Ndjamena and Hong Kong have become the most expensive cities on the planet. The top ten also included four European cities, three of which are located in Switzerland: Zurich (5), Geneva (6) and Bern (8). Prices in the Confederation remain high for foreigners, as the franc strengthened against the dollar. The opposite situation is in Russia: Moscow is only 9th, which is by 7 positions worse than last year's result.

Cities in Western Europe, by contrast, have strengthened their positions due to the strong euro. Glasgow (108) moved by 49 spots, Berlin (68) - by 31, Frankfurt (59) - by 24, Munich (55) - by 26. Cities that are closer to the top rankings, failed to show such a strong growth. Vienna (32) moved by 16 spots, Rome (31) - by 13, Milan (30) - by 11, Paris (27) - only by 10.
