China goes for a residence permit in Portugal, Russia and Brazil are lagging behind

Portugal has granted a residence permits for 1360 non-residents of the EU between October 2012 and July 2014, and the inflow of foreign investments amounted to €817 million, ee24.com reports with reference to the Portuguese official data (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal).

The surge of investment in the Portuguese property held in July 2014 (approx. €100 million). In addition, half of all approved applications for two years, according to the program of "gold residence permits" for buying property in the amount of €500,000, occurred in January-July 2014.

The citizens of China (1101 people) got the most of Portuguese "golden visas". The Russians (43) and the Brazilians (38) are far behind Chinese residents. Also in the top ten were residents of South Africa, Angola, Lebanon, Pakistan, India, Turkey and Ukraine. In general, foreigners were buying real estate in Lisbon, Porto and Algarve.
