Airbnb will charge a tourist tax on rent

Amsterdam authorities and well-known short-term accommodation search Airbnb portal will charge 5% tourist tax from the cost of real estate rent in the capital of the Netherlands. This is the first project of its kind in Europe, informs the ee24.com with reference to The Guardian.

Earlier, this 5-percent tax was charged only from tourists who stay in a hotel, but the hotel lobby of Amsterdam has done its job. Tourists will have to pay for short-term accommodation in an apartment since February 1, 2015. Currently on Airbnb.com are published about 10,000 Amsterdam property rental ads.
