Milojica Dakić, head of Central Bank, believes that this year property prices in Montenegro will either remain the same or decrease. This is indicated by such factors as the large number of unsold apartments seized by banks or owned by construction companies, as well as the low purchasing power of locals, according to ee24.com citing pobjeda.me.
In June 2013, the average price of apartments in Podgorica amounted to €1,069 per sq.m, which was the minimum value over the past five years. In March 2008, housing in the capital could be bought for €1,738 per sq.m. Recall that the average cost of new homes and apartments in Montenegro amounted to €1,260 per sq.m in Q3 2013.
Dakić said that the economy was highly influenced by slow growth in other EU countries. Nevertheless, the head of the Central Bank believes that despite the existence of certain problems, the financial system of Montenegro as a whole remains stable.
