About the project
The Philosophers Residence is for those who are close to the philosophy of security, inspiring tranquility and quality rest for those who prefer an active lifestyle of a business capital without harm, which the city center is able to cause. Each resident of the Philosophers’ Residence will have an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful views from the windows and terraces of his place of power’.
A library with books in the lobby of house, basketball court, terraces with ping-pong tables and for novus, two playgrounds, places of meditative relaxation overlooking the Lane of Philosophers and the shore of ancient Daugava and no cars within the territory – a residence of contemporary philosophers will comply with the spirit of time. Being in the center of the metropolis on the spacious garden terrace of the Philosophers' Residence its residents can devote themselves to meditation and contemplation of the beautiful scenery of the Old Town with its church steeples and the Presidential palace. The Daugava river will be seen from three open sides with its Cable-stayed bridge slung over it and low-rise Kipsala and Pārdaugava with their miniature houses drowning in green the future ‘City’ of Latvian capital with the first buildings of Saules Akmens, the building of National Library and Ztowers.
Active and productive life and good rest of high quality – these are the two aspects of life these should be in harmonious balance, so the environment is an emphasized point in the project. Respecting the beautiful cityscapes that historically open to the Lane of Philosophers, we raise a house 14 meters high from the ground. The Philosophers’ Residence as if soars above the ground not hiding from the eyes the eternal and imperishable beauty of nature.
In memory of storage pond there were once in nearby areas, in the center of the landscaped courtyard of the design project we will create an artificial pond. The project area will be given over to the recreation area for residents of the project. The area will not be available for motor transport, all cars will be placed in an underground parking lot. The alley of 300-year-old oaks, along which thinkers of the 18th century enjoyed to stroll and named the Lane of the Philosophers in their honor, will be carefully preserved and improved.
