The medieval abbey was mentioned for the first time in the chronicle of the town in 1302/03 as a monastery. The building was constructed as a sleeping accommodation for pilgrims of their way to Rome.

In 1550 the Pope Pio VI handed over the complex to a famous noble family of Florence. In 1761 another owner takes over the property and starts to work the land and reconstructs the church. A semi-circular bulbous part of the church was constructed, the dome of which was supported with Roman columns and arches.
Currently this part is used as a parlor.
Several years after the building fell into despair and was used as a stall.
When the monks permanently left the abbey, the building has been transformed into a farm house. Up 1990, until the current owners bought out the complex, the monks` cells were inhabited by the peasants.
The new owner has completely reconstructed the house transforming it into a comfortable luxurious villa with all the modern facilities. The high arch ceilings allowed to construct the first floor inside the building where nowadays the sleeping area is situated. On the basement floor there are a fitness area and technical rooms.
The villa is surrounded with a beautiful huge park with the area of 20 000 sqm. where typical for Tuscan scenery cypresses, olive and laurel trees grow. The well-kept lawns, scented roses and azaleas give one a sense of peace and tranquility.
The silence can be breached only with the bird songs.
