Italy may leave the EU

Silvio Berlusconi, the former Italian Prime Minister said that the country would be forced to leave the EU, if the European Central Bank (ECB) will not reduce the cost of servicing the debt.

Based on the words of Berlusconi, in case if  Germany disagree that the ECB should be a full-fledged central bank, and the cost of servicing debt will not reduce, Italy would have to leave the EU and return to the national currency.

Earlier, Italian politician has made statements that Italy may leave the euro zone, but such statements were always refuted.

To date, Berlusconi leads the election campaign "People of Freedom", in case of victory, 76-year-old politician is planning to take over the prime minister. Parliamentary elections will be in the beginning of 2013.
