Kavouri is the most cosmopolitan coastal suburb of southern Athens and belongs to the municipality of Vouliagmeni. Kavouri is located appoximately 22 kilometers south from the center of Athens, and lies between Voula and Vouliagmeni. Kavouri is one of the few coastal areas near Athens ideal for swimming. Kavouri has a beautiful sea, sandy beaches and mountain landscape with several pine forests. A perfect combination for unforgettable sunsets, especially during the summer months when the sun sets behind the small island, Hydroussa. While looking out towards the sea at Kavouri, depending on visibility and clarity on a given day, one can see the island of Aegina in the distance off to the left. Also depending on visibility one can see the port of Pireaus, the major port of Greece, off to the right. Ships and yachts can been seen cruising daily in the distance, as they go back and forth between the port of Pireaus to Aegina and the other Greek islands.
